What will you do?

Every day as a Workers' Compensation Adjuster at CIGA is filled with dynamic challenges and rewarding accomplishments. Here's a glimpse into your exciting daily duties:

  • Master Claims Management: Dive deep into analyzing, planning, taking action, and documenting assigned claims. Perform a thorough analysis and evaluation of coverage under Insurance code 1063 and applicable insurance policies, statutory law, liability defenses, and case dispositions.
  • Lead Litigation Efforts: Provide strategic direction and assistance to defense counsel in support of the litigation process. Negotiate claims settlements within assigned authority levels by offering timely litigation recommendations to counsel on each litigated claim.
  • Reserve Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses of the financial exposures affecting each litigated or potentially litigated claim.
  • Document and Manage: Ensure precise and detailed documentation of activities and decisions related to each claim within our sophisticated claims management system.
  • Negotiate and Settle Claims: Skillfully evaluate, negotiate, and settle assigned claims. Prepare Authorization Requests for reserve and settlement authority on claims that exceed granted authority.

Who Are We Looking For?

Our group welcomes professionals from all areas of workers' compensation, and we are currently seeking to fill several Workers’ Compensation Adjusters openings.  The position is remote and is available to California residents. Here are some key competencies CIGA is seeking.

  • We seek candidates with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in administering California claims, particularly with litigation expertise.
  • Certification from reputable institutions, such as the Insurance Education Association, Insurance Institute of America, Workers’ Compensation Self Insurance Certification, or California Experienced Claims Adjuster Designation, is required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate dedication to maintaining excellence with at least 30 continuing education hours every two years, per California Insurance Code and Regulations, ensuring retention of the California Experienced Adjuster Designation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, including intermediate capabilities in Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with valuable experience in PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exemplary literacy and arithmetic abilities are expected, evidenced by significant accomplishments; exceptional interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • A thorough understanding of California Labor Code Section 1063 and California Insurance Code Section 14.2 is required, with a commitment to staying updated with regulatory changes.
  • Assertive claims handling is vital, with the ability to expertly manage multiple claim parameters while maintaining a client-focused approach.
