About the Role:

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to work within the Information Technology team to develop, maintain, and support software applications for CIGA. You’ll partner with Business Analysts to understand business requirements, write software code, and develop and maintain technical design documents.

Salary: $126,058 - $181,806

What You’ll Do:

You’ll use an analytical, engineering-focused approach and knowledge of programming languages to develop software programs and ensure software is functional and robust.

Collaboration:

Partner with Business Analysts to understand business requirements and works closely with Project Management to ensure delivery of agreed scope of work through:

  • Reviewing business requirements documents and providing feedback so that the requirements are fully defined and all exceptions are noted
  • Helping break down the project into logical phases of work and identify dependencies
  • Working with Program Manager and other engineers to meet project goals

Design & Development:

Build applications, write testable code, and map out system architecture using the appropriate technologies and best practices:

  • Perform and document Technical Design – Data Types, Format, Use Cases and Activity diagrams and BPEL
  • Document code consistently throughout the development process.
  • Configure and use build tools like Jenkins
  • Configure application deployment so that it may be as automated as possible
  • Utilize and promote the use of Enterprise tools and development/support standards and best practices

Testing & Debugging:

  • Run system diagnostics, fix software bugs, and execute quality assurance tests.
  • Build and run automated test scripts

Maintenance:

  • Update existing programs, monitor performance, and document system functionality
  • Continue modernization efforts across tools, infrastructure, and development processes (including CI/CD and DevSecOps)
  • Monitor application modification requests and ensure best practices are followed

What You’ll Need:

  • A high school diploma required; certifications or college level coursework preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in programming or Information Technology
  • Basic knowledge of SDLC’s and software security principles (DevSecOps)
  • Experienced with modern web technologies such as Java, JavaScript, and Microsoft .Net, HTML 5, CSS, XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, Web Services, T-SQL, and Object-Oriented Design
  • Good analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated and able to operate independently with moderate supervision
